Jacqui has been working at Sydney Sports Medicine Centre since 2008, is a qualified Sports & Remedial Massage Therapist and a qualified Sports Trainer.
As a retired national swimmer, Jacqui understands the strains and rigours the body can be put under while training for and competing in elite sport. Suffering many injuries herself from over training, instability and numerous joint impingements, she has endured the rehabilitation process many times and thus has a great interest in injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Her background in swimming has led to her interest and involvement in working with NSW Swimming, NSWIS Swimmers, and Swimming Australia both in competition and training phases. She also treats patients from other sports; athletics, tennis, soccer, diving, cycling, archery and winter sports, as well as with the NSW Institute of Sport.
More recently, Jacqui has been appointed as the Massage Therapist of the Australian Paralympic Swim Team. This has taken her to World Championships, World Cups and Paralympic Pan Pacific Championships around the world. She has also travelled internationally with the Australian Open Water Swim Team, along with participating in many national training camps.
Jacqui worked with the Sydney Swans Football Club for two and a half years as both a Massage Therapist and a Sports Trainer on game days, which saw her travel the interstate with the club’s teams.
Jacqui enjoys working as part of a team in the professional environment at Sydney Sports Medicine Centre. Working together with the Physiotherapists, Sports Physicians, Specialists, Exercise Physiologists and Podiatrists they are able to achieve optimal results for the patient.
Jacqui finds that a combination of soft tissue therapy, myofascial release and dry needling can be a great treatment plan for injury prevention and rehabilitation, and as a way to loosen up and de-stress.
Whether it’s a sore neck from studying or long hours spent tied to your computer; an injury incurred by participating in social or elite sport; illness or health concerns that causing you pain or dysfunction; or the rigours or day to day life giving you trouble, Jacqui will help find a treatment plan that works for you.
Jacqui is a member of the Australian Association of Massage Therapists (AAMT).
